Sam and Chris’s Home Water Birth, Baby Matilda

February 17, 2023

We wanted to let you know, Louise that we welcomed Matilda safely at home in the birthing pool.

The midwife arrived when I was 6cm dilated.

As the surges got stronger, I was finding it difficult to stay focused, so used some gas and air, which helped. Thanks to you, Chris my partner was so prepared, that he was able to keep reminding me of what I needed to remember. Tongue behind my upper teeth and shoulders down! He made sure the music was on, scent was there, ice packs were to hand and I was fed and watered!

The Hypnobirthing affirmations and breathing techniques kept me calm and relaxed in the birthing pool.

By the final stage, after a short walk around the hallway, I was able to refocus and put the gas and air to one side.

I used the hypnobirthing techniques to finally be able to welcome Matilda after 12 hours from my waters breaking (and about 10 hours from my first tangible contraction)

Thank you for everything, it is safe to say we’d definitely recommend you to any pregnant couples we meet in future!

Is Hypnobirthing effective?

Yes Hypnobirthing is SO effective! Read the many positive birth stories and experiences of BirthBalm couples that I have taught over the years since I first staring teaching Hypnobirthing in 2009.
