I was booked to have the induction Monday, but with the hospital being so busy I couldn’t come in to get started until the evening. All day my hypnobirthing helped me await the call and keep calm.
I had the gel over night and by the next day at midday I was 2cm dilated but no contractions. They took me to delivery where I had my fore waters broken (it was hind waters that had previously broken at 33 weeks) and the Midwife also did a sweep.
Shortly after I suddenly had this urge to push and all the while, the breathing techniques you taught me, Louise kept me calm.
We found out I went from 2cm-8cm in the space of an hour and a half. So I decided to have an epidural which helped to slow the labour slightly.
At 5pm I was fully dilated, the epidural had been turned down and I was ready to push- this was my favourite part of the whole birth. We had my lavender diffuser, mp3s playing into the room, dim lights and candles and I was so happy I still got to have this being on the consultant led unit and being induced early.
Although the birth then took a turn when my temperature spiked, the babies heart rate went up I managed to keep calm when being told the baby was back to back and I need to go to theatre for either forceps or C-Section. At this point the epidural was completely out of my system after being stopped hours before and I was contracting so much that I zoned out and use all the techniques to calm myself.
Albert was born with forceps. Thank you so much for all your help Louise.
As even with unexpected turns in my pregnancy the music, advice and hypnobirthing techniques helped me throughout.
I will be highly recommending the course to friends.
